Visit Dornoch this Winter

Now the Dornoch Whisky Festival is over for another year, and the clocks have gone back, we look forward to the winter events starting with Bonfire Night on 5th November with the torch light parade to Meadows Park for the firework display.

Dornoch is becoming a centre for great food & drink - 'Grant NcNicol at the Castle' is a restaurant to be proud of and a number of special dinners are planned, including a 6-course Scottish Malt Society hosted dinner on 2nd November, a WoodWinters Wine Merchant Dinner on 23rd November and a De Burgh Wine Matched Dinner on 7th December. Christmas party menus for lunch and dinner will run 13th-15th and 20th-22nd December and the year rounds off with the Hogamanay Gala Dinner.

The Royal Golf Hotel is open over the winter where resident chef Michael Carr is creating a range of themed dinners including a Curry Night on 9th November, St Andrew's Theme on 30th November, Mexican on 7th December and Christmas theme on 14th December. At £29 pp with the option of accommodation at £39pp, what's not to like! Or book in for the 4-course Hogmanay dinner before making your way to the famous Dornoch Hogmanay Street Party.

Javi Santos, the head chef at Links House, in partnership with Clynelish is preparing an amazing 5-course Clynelish Whisky Dinner & Masterclass on 30th December. Then welcome the New Year with a Bloody Mary Brunch at Links House on 1st January.

With over 20 independent shops, Dornoch is a great place for Christmas Shopping, starting with Jail Dornoch and Country Interior's Christmas launch day on 9th November when you can enjoy a glass of Prosecco and chocolates while you browse.  If you spend over £100 on the day you will be entered into a raffle for a £500 Jail Dornoch gift voucher!

Dornoch Stores are running free tasting sessions every Saturday in December, St Andrew's Fair on 7th December includes a Christmas Bazaar, Santa's Grotto and carols in the Cathedral. Then there is a special Christmas Community Market on 14th December and creative Christmas workshops on 21st December with rag wreath making, candle making, crocheted Christmas decorations, and how to create festive food & drink treats.
