Discover Dornoch app now available

Discover Dornoch is available in the Google Play store for Android devices, in the App Store for iPhones and a Windows version is also available.

If you like walking, and you’re visiting Dornoch, this app is for you. It uses the location information on your mobile to plot your current location, and helps you see where you are in relation to 4 great walks in and around Dornoch, including:

curlew1. A Round of the Golf Course

This walk is a wonderful way to explore the lovely scenery and rich wildlife present around Dornoch. It is a particularly good way to discover the wealth of wildflowers in the dunes and adjacent grassland.

Time: 2 Hours


to Embo2. The Time Travellers Walk

Moderate walking through the town centre, woodlands and open countryside with sea views. This walk can be broken down into a series of shorter walks if necessary, and most of it is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

Time: 2.5 Hours


P3 3 windows3. Dornoch's Notable Women

Discover some of the women who have influenced the history of Dornoch from Georgina Anderson (1821-1899) who donated the fountain to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897; to the Duchess Countess of Sutherland who restored the Cathedral in the 19th century. The present minister Reverend Susan Brown, baptised the pop star Madonna's son Rocco in the cathedral on 21 December 2000, and married Madonna (Madonna Louise Ciccone) and Guy Richie the following day at nearby Skibo Castle.

An ideal walk for children to explore the beach and see our rich and varied sea- and beach-life. The walk is introduced by Callum the Crab, who poses questions, riddles and clues along the walk. Can you find Croc Rock?
